Shirley Constance Guelzow - Kemman, 89, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, August 9, 2010 at Pioneer Court.

She was born March 20, 1921 in DeForest, WI, the daughter of Simon and Josie (Midthun) Ethun. Shirley was a 1939 graduate of DeForest High School. She attended Madison Business College. Shirley married William R. Guelzow on Syttenda Mai May 17, 1942 in DeForest, WI, and they were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage. He predeceased her on July 5, 1992. She later married Roger A. “Rye” Kemman on February 22, 1997 in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI.

Shirley was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, was a beautiful seamstress and an accomplished pianist. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. Shirley was a member of the Current Literature Book Club, Beloit and Janesville Symphony Guild, and the Tuesday Club. Shirley was active in Girl Scouts, school and community activities. She was also a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she served on the Dorcas Circle, other various committees and taught Sunday school. Shirley was a long time volunteer for the Beloit Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

To our dear mother who brought beauty in so many ways to all she knew and loved. She was the true flower of our lives. We love you mom.

Survivors include her husband, Roger A. “Rye” Kemman of Beloit, WI; one son, Richard Guelzow of Northbrook, IL; three daughters, Connie (Thomas) Gulash of Manitowoc, WI, Carol (William) Gilbert of Hudson, WI, and Felice Ethun of Lancaster, PA; one step daughter, Nancy (Dave) Mignon of Beloit, WI; two step sons, Roger (Sue) Kemman of Beloit, WI, and Dan Kemman of Sun Prairie, WI; 10 grandchildren, Kimberly (Mike) Payne, Brent (Lorie) Gulash, Krista (Van) Walter, Tiffany Gilbert, Collin (Rachel) Gilbert, Derek (Shannon) Gilbert, Megan (Patrick) Garvey, Joslyn (Mike) Danifo, Sam Pulles and Ben (Erin) Pulles; 10 great grandchildren; several brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-law and extended family.

She was predeceased by her parents, first husband, William Guelzow, brother, Robert Ethun, and daughter-in-law, Janis Guelzow.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2010 in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 749 Bluff Street, Beloit, WI, with Reverend Jennifer Jelinek officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Visitation will also be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the church.
