Vol. Militia. He mustered out: August 24 1863 with Company. Edgar also served from August 24, 1863 as a Private in Company M, 2nd Regiment, Ohio Heavy Artillery. Edgar was 24 years of age when he enlisted as a volunteer for 3 years. Height: 6 feet, 1 inch; Eyes: Blue; Hair: Brown During the war on July 16, 1864 he was transferred to Co. G, 1 Battalion 5 Regiment Veteran Reserve Corp. Here he was detailed as clerk to General Court Martial by Comd. of Lt. Col. Frederick on August 3, 1864. On January 10, 1865 he was detailed as clerk to General Court Martial by order of Bvt. Major General Hovey. Edgar D. Ivory was honorably discharged September 4, 1865. After the war, in 1867, Edgar came to California by way of the Isthmus of Panama. He settle in Contra Costa County and married 17 year old Clara Isadora Glass.
