Mary Margaret Snelgrove

HENDERSONVILLE, NC - Mary Margaret Snelgrove Burns, 90, of Hendersonville, and formerly of Greenville, S.C., went to be with the Lord. She died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at her home.
She was the daughter of the late James Monroe Snelgrove and Lily Greer Pittman Snelgrove, and was preceded in death by her husband, Perry J. Burns; a son, Wayne Monroe Burns; and three sisters.
She had lived in Henderson County for the past nine years, coming from Greenville, S.C., and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Hendersonville, N.C., and City View First Baptist Church in Greenville, S.C.
She was a loving caregiver to all who made her acquaintance.
She is survived by her son, Norman A. Burns, and wife, Marie Capps Burns, of Hendersonville; two grandsons, Anthony W. Burns and wife, Donna, of Hendersonville and Dennis A. Burns and wife, Christy, of Fletcher; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Brayden Burns; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the chapel in The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service, with the Rev. Mike Whitson officiating. Music will be provided by the Burns Trio. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times will be at her home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care at P.O. Box 2395, Hendersonville, NC 28793.
Jackson Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
