Bettye Loryne Satterlee

Life-time Sumas - Everson area resident, Bettye L. Pike, 87, died at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham on Wednesday, July 13, 2011.
The daughter of Henry and Anna (Perry) Satterlee, Bettye was born in Bellingham on May 12, 1924 and was raised in Sumas. She graduated from Nooksack Valley High School in 1942 and married Frank Pike in Sumas on July 11, 1946. A home maker, she and Frank raised their family and Bettye delivered milk from their dairy farm on the South Pass Road. She participated in women's activities at the Nooksack Valley United Methodist Church and volunteered in the reading program at the Everson Elementary School for many years. In addition to her volunteer work, Bettye was primarily known as a loving care giver to many of her family and friends, helping whenever and however she could.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Pike was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Satterlee and husband Frank in 2007. She is survived by her children Rick (Nancy) Pike of Ferndale, Kathy Longoria of Rock Island, WA, Greg Pike of Sumas, Molly Pike of Bellingham, Ann (Pat) Clark of Nooksack and Sherry Sletvik and friend Doug VanDiest of Everson; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. in Nooksack Cemetery.
