Hazel Mayford Walker

Hazel Walker White / Cobb who grew up in Cut and Shoot with her siblings and mother Mittie Lorraine Silvey /Walker. Her father, John Walker rode the rails (ala Woodie Guthrie) during the 20's-30's, leaving Mittie to raise the brood. Stroke-impaired Grandpa Walker later busted out of the nursing home in his 80's and was picked up under the Congress Ave. bridge by Houston Police with a wine bottle in hand. Mittie and Dornisha apparently lacked husband-picking skills, but definitely knew how to fend for themselves.
