Zora Bobel Brown

"Prominent People" One of Wells' most unusal citizen was Zora B Brown who was born in 1849 Rankin, Mississippi. As a young boy he had been kicked in the head by a mule. Though a large hole in his head was plugged with a silver half dollar, a deep dent remained in his head until the end of his life, taken by Bronchial Pneumonia. Zora's funeral in 1936 was the first service to held in the chapel at Mount Hope Cemetery, and it was named Brown's Chapel in honor of this unusual citizen of Well, Texas. His parents were John and Samantha Brown of Mississippi, then Wells, Texas. Grandparents Henry and Phrenetta Brown of Mississippi. Uncle Wiley Brown is buried next to Zora at Mount Hope Cemetery.
