TUSCALOOSA | William Howard Fair, age 75, of Tuscaloosa, died April 6, 2006 at the VA Hospital Nursing Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2006 at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Ernest M. Shipe and Rev. Alfred Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Dunn's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Fair and Myrtie Reece Beard Fair, six brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lillie Lewis Fair; daughter, Ann Fulmer (Billie) of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Kate Ledbetter (Lavern), Lucille Boswell (James) and Mae Williams; granddaughters, Pamela Sorrell and Andrea Swindle; and great-grandchildren, Casey Sorrell, Cody Fields and Allison Weathers.
Mr. Fair retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years service and served during the Korean Conflict and Saudi Arabia. After the military he was a realtor in Tuscaloosa for many years and a business owner of Smalley-Fair BBQ located on the UA campus. He was a member of Buhl Baptist Church. He was a good friend to many in his many careers and provided well for his family. He has a love for life and one of the greatest loves was being a "Paw Paw" to his grandchildren, the joy in his life. We say farewell to a good soldier and his mark he made to life.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Fair, Jerry Ledbetter, Mike Powell, Jimmy Hudgens, Larry Englebert and Wayne Guy.
