Gladys Odessa Stivender

Gladys Stivender Biggers, 94, of Salem, Utah, passed away early on September 6, 2014. She was born July 3, 1920, in Lakeland, Florida, a daughter of Arthur Embry Stivender and Allie Mae LaFoley.
She graduated from Leesburg High School in Florida, as valedictorian of her class. She also graduated from Florida State University. She was employed as a chemist, school teacher, and raised citrus. Her most loved vocation, however, was being a mother and homemaker.
Gladys married William Stullken Biggers on April 3, 1943 in El Dorado, Arkansas. They were sealed on August 22, 1966 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. She has been without her eternal companion, since his death on September 7, 1986.
She enjoyed reading, photography, painting, and played the piano. As a faithful member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, she served as Relief Society President and found joy serving as a temple worker.
Gladys is survived by her children: Arthur Jackson Biggers, and wife, Connie, of Salem, Utah; Doris Ann Biggers Loomis. of Beaumont, Texas; Jeanette Kathleen Biggers Daniels, and husband, Paul, of Salt Lake City, Utah; and son-in-law, John Hasson, Sr. of Orem, Utah ; as well as 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; youngest daughter, Linda Frances Biggers Hasson; son-in-law, Jerry Loomis; and a great-grandson, Leonardo Enrique Biggers.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Salem LDS 4th Ward, 25 West Apple Blossom Way, Salem, Utah. Friends and family may call at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will take place on Monday, September 15, 2014, at Hillcrest Memorial in Leesburg, Florida.
