Joye Wesson Hasson, 84, of Winnie, Texas, died Thursday, November 8, 2012, at The Arboretum, Winnie.

She was born on April 12, 1928, in Meridian Mississippi, to Margaret and Arthur Wesson.

Joye married Vester "Mack" Hasson, Jr. on June 23, 1946, and in 1954, they moved to the Golden Triangle with their three sons. Joye was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served faithfully in every auxiliary during her lifetime, from Cub Scout Den Mother to Beaumont Stake Relief Society President. With her husband, she served a mission for the Church in Morristown, New Jersey, in the early 1990s. Additionally, they worked together for several years in the Houston, Texas Temple.

Professionally, Joye worked as a secretary in the Beaumont Independent School District, and later became the executive secretary to the Vice Chancellor at Lamar University, Beaumont. She served for a time as the president of the Southeast Texas Educational Secretaries Association. Joye volunteered with the Pink Ladies at the Winnie Medical Center, and was president of that organization for a while. She was an active volunteer for the Republican Party as well as for the Winnie Rice Festival. Joye loved to sew, play the piano, and go ballroom dancing at the Harvest Club with Mack. Most of all, she loved her family and friends, Joye loved her sons, and they loved her! She made everyone feel comfortable, welcome, and loved.
