Mary Josephine Heffley, 77, departed her loved ones on October 30, 2006, and joined her beloved husband of 48 years, Gordon E. Heffley, in the kingdom of heaven.
Mary was born March 21, 1929 in New York City, New York, daughter of Robert H. and Mary A. Glynn. She grew up in Bayside, Long Island and enjoyed an exciting career as a TWA stewardess prior to her marriage to Gordon and her relocation to Kansas City. Mary and Gordon established and managed a successful architectural design company in Mission, Kansas for many years. Mary loved entertaining and travel. She created treasured memories of family vacations and time spent together at the Heffley lake home in the Ozarks. Mary and Gordon retired to Leesburg, Florida where they were often visited by their children, grandchildren, and many friends.
Mary is survived by her four children and six grandchildren; Deborah Anne Heffley of Overland Park, Kansas; Walter Gordon Heffley and his wife, Rebecca of Louisburg, Kansas; Denise Heffley Menzies and her husband, Peter Menzies, Jr. of Sydney, Australia and their daughters, Emma Sydney, Gretal Glynn, and Chloe Marie; Mary Beth Hershey and her husband, Henry E. Hershey, III of Overland Park, Kansas and their children, Brandon Edward, Ashley Ann, and Justin Jack.
Mary is also survived by her brother Jack Glynn of Fort Myers, Florida.
Mary's generosity of spirit and love of life will be carried in the hearts of her friends and family forever. We were blessed with her life and we are blessed with her memories now she has departed. May she live in eternal happiness.
