Karl Barothy Dies; Civil War Veteran
Karl Barothy, 99, of Omaha, died Wednesday at Veterans' hospital at Lincoln. His death narrowed to 10 the number of civil war veterans living in the state. With the death of Mr. Barothy, Omaha has but one remaining survivor of the war, Erastus Page.
Mr. Barothy enlisted at Omaha, which at that time was a straggling village of a few houses. He served with Company G of the First Nebraska cavalry, remembered the battle of Gettysburg and meeting Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant.
A native of Hungary, he had lived also at Fremont, Arlington and Fontenelle.
Services: Friday 2 p.m., from the Crosby-Meyer chapel; burial, Forest Lawn.

Flag Honor Guard at Karl Barothy Funeral
A flag guard of honor was provided by the G.A.R. auxiliary at the services Friday for Karl Barothy, 99, civil was veteran who died Wednesday at the Veterans' hospital at Lincoln. Mr. Barhothy was one of Omaha's two civil war veterans. Services were held from the Crosby Meyer chapel, Dr. Walter Traub officiating, with burial at Forest Lawn.
