Max J. Lewis

Max J. Lewis, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday May 20, 2013 surrounded by his family. Max was born on June 1, 1935 in Paris Idaho to Ezra Joynes Lewis and Mary Drusilla Passey. He was the youngest of seven children.
He grew up in Conda Idaho and went to school there until the 8th grade. He then went to Soda Springs high school where he met the love of his life, Lenniss Moore. He graduated from Soda Springs High school and joined the Army right out of school in 1953. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1955. He and Lenniss were married on April 6, 1955. and were blessed with 4 children, Dianna, Brian, Stacey and Blair.
He was a member the LDS church. Max and Lenniss were sealed in the Temple on June 17, 1966. Max was an avid sportsman. He loved fly fishing, bow hunting, and camping. He loved to spend time with his family and especially his grandkids. He was a member of the Soda Springs Sheriff posse and the Jaycee’s. He worked for Monsanto company for 40 years. He was known for his roses and his dutch oven cooking around Monsanto.
Max is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lenniss. Four children and their spouses, Dianna (Greg) Murray, Brian (Lynda) Lewis, Stacey (Dave Knight), and Blair (Shawna) Lewis. He is also survived by 8 grandkids, and 12 great-grandkids and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings and a son-in-law, Larry Yarbrough.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Noon at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 7-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
