MaryBeth Rucks Coleman was born April 25, 1925 at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston, TX. Her birth mother was Dee Parsley, age 17. Her birth father was Smith Robert Henry, age 23. They were both residents of The Arkansas School for the Blind. Soon after her birth, MaryBeth was adopted by Augustus Rogers Rucks and Pearl Iris Jamison Rucks of Angleton, TX. Until her adoption was complete, she lived at the Depelchin Faith Home in Houston, TX. She was raised on a large cattle ranch in Brazoria County, TX, on land that was settled by her Grandfather James Jamison. She spent much of her youth riding horses, traveling the country with her parents, and surrounded by many loving Aunts and Uncles and Cousins. She married Harold Dean Coleman on April 17, 1948, and they began their family the following year. She and Dean were blessed with six children; Laura Katherine, Loel Rucks, Judith Ann, Beverly Gwen, Sarah Gannon, and Alan Wilson. In March of 1967, she lost her beloved Dean after an illness. She continued taking care of the EN Ranch that she had inherited from her mother, raising cattle and horses. She spent a large amount of time researching the Jamison, Rucks, Coleman, and Nash families, as she thought this would be a wonderful gift for her children and grandchildren. She was happiest when riding around in her pasture looking over her cattle. She is greatly missed by her children and her grandchildren; Jamison, Eli, Bonnie, Britt, Trace, Matthew, Josh, Christie, Jake, Holly, Zac, Coleman, Thomas, and Jessica. After her passing, her ashes were spread over her pasture at the EN Ranch by her children and a few close friends.
