William Thompson

Rev. William Tompson was born in Lancaster, England in 1597. He matriculated at Oxford Unversity 13 March 1617/8 and was admitted to Brazenose College 9 May 1618. He was elected a Nowell Scholar 24 October 1620 and was graguated with a Bachelor of Arts degree on 28 February 1621/2. He was Curate of Newton Chapel Winwick, Lancashire, England 1623 to 1635. He arrived in New England in 1636. He preached at York, Maine 1637 to 1639. He was installed as preacher of the First Church Braintree (now Quincy) Mass. 16 September 1639.
