The parentage or place of birth of Catherine are not known. She was probably born in or near Glemsford, Suffolk, England, around 1525. About 1540, she married John Strutt at St. Mary the Virgin Church in Glemsford. He was a prosperous yeoman, or farmer in Glemsford, Suffolk. They had three children, all born in Glemsford. Catherine died in August of 1578 and was buried in the churchyard of St. Mary the Virgin Church in Glemsford on August 18, 1578.
