Greenville; Charles E. MAIN, 84, of 402 S. Baldwin, Greenville, Mich. and formerly of Sturgis, Mich., died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999 at United Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility in Greenville.

He was born June 28, 1915 in Sturgis, the son of George and Ethel (NILES) MAIN.

Charles had resided in Greenville the past two years. Prior to that he had lived most of his life in Sturgis.

On July 17, 1937 he married Lucile HOOVER in Sturgis. He was coo-owner of Wood Products Co. in Burr Oak, Mich. for over 20 years, retiring in 1983. Before that Charles had worked for the Huntley-VanBuren Furniture Company in Sturgis.

Charles was a graduate of Sturgis High School Class of 1933. He had a true love of flying, being a private pilot and owning his own aircraft, built model airplanes, attended numerous air shows and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are; his wife of 62 years, Lucile; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and John BROWN, Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Nelva Jean MAIN, Batavia, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, Tracey BROWN, Troy and Beth BROWN, Eric BROWN, Timothy CLINCH, Corey CLINCH, Jason MAIN and Ryan MAIN; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth MAIN; and 3 cousins, Harold FROHRIEP of Sturgis, Mary HERL of Angola, Ind., and Nancy DONOVAN of Kalamazoo.

Friends and relatives may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Hackman-Foglesong Funeral Home of Sturgis, where the family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral services celebrating the life of Charles E. MAIN will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday from the funeral home. The Rev. Calvin Kolzow of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.

If desired, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association, American Cancer Society or the Michigan Parkinson Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
