Marie Larine Hoover

She was born Jan. 16, 1908 in Isabella County, a daughter of George and Bertha (TAYLOR) HOOVER, and lived in the Bronson area most of her life.
In 1928 she married Ben POWELL. He died in 1939.
On Jan. 2, 1942, she married Walter SCOTT in Burr Oak. He died in 1970.
A homemaker, she was employed at the former Douglas Manufacturing Company of Bronson (now Douglas Autotech) for several years and at Trans A Gram of Sturgis, where she retired in 1969 after 15 years.
She was a member of the Lake Alford Baptist Church of Lake Alford, Fla., where she wintered for several years; a member of the AARP; and a volunteer with the Bronson Senior Lunch Program. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, gardening and ceramics.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Margaret SCOTT of Bronson; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Nancy SCOTT of Three Rivers; one step-daughter, Dorothy BROOKS of Sun City, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Arlo HOOVER of Lake Alford, Fla.; and two sisters, Lucille MAIN of Greenville, Mich., and Theo REED of Lake Alford, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husbands; one daughter, Coila McDANIEL in 1995; one son, Monte POWELL Sr. in 1996; a sister in infancy; another sister, Gladys FURTNEY; her twin brother, Merl HOOVER; another brother, Irie HOOVER; and one granddaughter, Sharon McDANIEL.
Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kolcz Funeral Home of Bronson, where services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Phil Lindner of the Batavia Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Colon.
Memorials may be directed to the Bronson Senior Lunch program. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
