Samuel Neufer, 81, of Albion, died , February 16, 2000, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Mr. Neufer was born January 14, 1919, in Albion, to Samuel E. and Mary (Gettys) Neufer.
He married Elizabeth Folk in Ajo, Arizona, December 31, 1942. 
Mr. Neufer was a veteran disabled in World War II, and had been a prisoner of war in Germany. He was a member of the Albion V.F.W. Post #3672, Elks #1798, Moose #406, and a lifetime member of Eagles #1265.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and nephews, camping, and all outdoor activities, including outdoor cooking and relaxing outdoors on his deck watching the birds and squirrels. Mr. Neufer was an avid game show viewer.
He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 57 years, Mr. Neufer is survived by two daughters, Sandra Gargans and Jane Neufer; a son, Scott Neufer; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a brother, Hardy (Gert) Neufer; a sister, Hazel (Fritz) Feddersen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Neufer was preceded in death by four sisters, Arvilla Boyer, Jeanetta Neufer (infant), Elsie Putnam and Lucille Pyle, and five brothers, Richard Neufer, William Neufer, Franklin Holibaugh (infant), Cecil Holibaugh and Harry Blair.
