THOMPSON, Elbert L.- Passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at the age of 90. He is survived by his daughter, Gail Johns; four grandchildren, Gail Neu, Vickie (Douglas) Stumberg, Robin (Steve) Bies and Julie Willett; eleven great-grand-children; and two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special niece, Kathy Forsberg; as well as a sister, Marge Bramble; and a special friend, Emerald Neal who comforted him in his last weeks. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn; and brothers, Russell and Robert. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the Exalted Ruler of Elks in Jackson and in Melbourne, Florida. Mr. Thompson was born in Homer and lived in Albion, Concord, and Jackson, MI before moving to Florida in 1962. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a handyman/painter and friend to many neighbors. He owned the grain elevator in Concord for many years. According to his wishes cremation will take place and a memorial service with burial in Ft. Custer National Cemetery will take place at a later date. www.mem.com www.mlive.com/obits
