Maggie was the daughter of James Owen Long and Myrtle Camp Long Hays. Her dad died when she was young, and her mom then married James Everett Hays, who adopted and raised Maggie and her sister Edna. She married Ed Lauck in 1931 and together they had 5 children (Carol, Buddy, Larry, Mary Beth, and Margie).
