Obituary: PAINE Gordon Leroy, was born in Pottawatomie County, Ok. April 23, 1905, died December 9, 1995. Gordon served 44 years in education, mostly in administration. For nearly 12 years, he was Dean of Oklahoma Military College in Claremore, Ok. and, for 22 years, was Dean of Cameron College at Lawton, Ok. Gordon was a member of the Lion's Club of Oklahoma for 50 years, serving in various capacities in the Lawton chapter as well as District Governor for 3L District. He was honored as "The Lion of the Year" in 1982. Gordon was an active member for forty-two years of First Baptist Church, Lawton, Ok., serving as a deacon, Bible teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Senior Adult Sunday School Director. He was also active in community organizations including serving on the Board of Directors for Christian Servicemen's Center, J. Roy Dunning Children's Home, both in Lawton, and Oklahoma Boys Ranch in Perkins, Ok. After moving to Hendersonville, Tn. in 1990 with his wife to be near their daughter, he became an active member of Bluegrass Baptist Church, assisting with the Senior Adult Sunday School Department and the Singles Outreach Ministry until his recent illness. Gordon is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Abbott Paine, Hendersonville, Tn; a son, David Paine and wife Elaine of Burke, Va.; and daughter, Liz Davis and husband Bob of Hendersonville, Tn.; 5 grandchildren, Captain Andy Paine and wife Laura, Copperas Cove, Tx., Lisa Whetzel and husband Jay, Richmond, Va., Susan Paine, Burke, Va., Lori Daily and husband Bill, Memphis, Tn., Lynn Hollaway, Knoxville, Tn.; and 2 great grandchildren, Mary Katherine and David Thomas Paine; and nieces and nephews of Norman, Ok. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 13, 10:00 a.m., First Baptist Church, Lawton, Ok. Interment will be at WANETTE Cemetery, WANETTE, Ok. at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Boys Ranch, Perkins, Ok. or the Oklahoma Baptist Children's Home, OKC.
