Phyllis Daily Young, 89, of North Little Rock was embraced by the waiting arms of Her Sweet Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 16, 2013.
Phyllis Lenore Young was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on December 4, 1923 to Dr. R.C. and Flora W. Daily.
She was born into the family of God at age 11, through the invitation of her mother and the promptings of God's Holy Spirit. Profession of that faith made in Old Armurchie in Rome, Georgia and was baptized in a little creek by her pastor daddy.
She was blessed with educational opportunities and graduated with honors from both Ouachita and S.M. U., majoring in English. She loved teaching at various times from 6th grade students to college freshmen and for fifteen years worked with 4 and 5 year olds in afternoon Daycare at Park Hill Baptist Church.
She joined Park Hill Baptist Church in 1964, was an Adult Sunday School teacher for about 25 years and she loved every class she taught and felt loved in return. She was a life long learner who when she could no longer teach, loved being taught.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Young, of North Little Rock; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brock and Holly Young, of North Little Rock and Jon and Karen Young, of Maumelle; two grandchildren, Ashley Young, of Memphis, Tennessee; Chesney Young Henke, of Sherwood and brother-in-law, Ernest Hollaway, of Nashville, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home.
A private burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park.
