Cephas Newhall was the son of Moses and Hannah (Robbins) Newhall. He married 1st. Ruth Kilburn, Oct. 14, 1816 in Sterling, Worcester Co., Mass. and 2nd. Lucy Ann Jewett, Sept. 26, 1836 in Sterling, Worcester Co., Mass.

He was a Mason by trade, but it seems that, according to the History of Northborough, pg. 121, he was a "Choir Leader" in Northborough, "Surpassed by few."
