George Robert Wood, 86, of 109 Steeplechase Court, Simpsonville, husband of Marian B. Wood, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Edward Urias and Ethel Hitt Wood.

Mr. Wood was an area supervisor for Cryovac before his retirement. He retired after twenty years in the U.S. Navy, with the rank of chief petty officer. He was a member of the American Legion.

He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, and an elder emeritus at the church.

Surviving are his wife, Marian Boozer Wood of the home: three daughters, Rebecca Greene and her husband, John, of Taylors, Roberta Wood of Simpsonville, and Rachel Nash and her husband, Jim, of Florence, S.C.; two brothers, Harmon Wood and his wife Betty, and Edwin Wood and his wife Wilma, both of Greenville; two sisters, Helen Smith of Simpsonville and Patricia Wood of Greenville; five grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Bayne, Laura Moran, Jason Nash and Amy Greene; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 12, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 13, 2007, at 2 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, with the Reverend Robert Spears officiating. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.
