Death of Mr. R. C. Germany.
Mr. R. C. Germany, one of the best-known citizens of Chambers County, died at his home on LaFayette route 1, yesterday morning about 9 o'clock. Mr. Germany was in LaFayette only a few days ago, and apparently, enjoying his usual good health. His death was very sudden, and we understand was caused by heart failure.
Mr. Germany was a leading member of the Primitive Baptist Church at Macedonia. He served as a member of the Commissioner's Court for a number of years and was prominent in the political affairs of the County.
The deceased is survived by his wife, four daughters: Mrs. Trammell, of Florida, Mrs. Higgins, of Five Points, Mrs. F. M. McCoy, and Mrs. J. H. Jarrell of this city, and three sons: Messrs. W. C. and Cleveland Germany, of LaFayette Route 1 and Mr. T. J. Germany, of Bartow, Fla.
The funeral services will be held at the home today at 11:00 o'clock, conducted by Elder J. T. Satterwhite and the remains interred in the family burying ground.

Tribute to the Memory of R. C. Germany.
In the passing of Mr. R. C. Germany, a type of the old Southern gentleman is gone, a man true of heart and strong of purpose, honest and passing loyal to the duties of home and country. A man standing the stress and strain of the changing years, knowing the hard vicissitudes of the time of war, the sad and sterner period of reconstruction; yet building over anew with strong home and patience and without raillery at fate. Bring-up a sturdy family, who has since grown into manhood and womanhood, strengthened and helped for the duties of life by the wise advice and counsel of father and mother.
Gathering wisdom with the years, serving God, loyal and steadfast to his church and his principles, devoted to his family and their interest, striving at all times to bring about conditions for their pleasure, and strong in his sense of duty toward all his fellowmen.
A man large of heart and lavish in his hospitality, throwing wide his gates to friends and strangers, offering his best to all who would partake. These old homes first founded in the ante bellum days, when slaves stood waiting to accord their master's service, established a precedent in generous hospitality and ample style of living, which neither time or conditions have not been able to change, but one by one they are being broken, all will in a few more years have passed – only a memory will remain of a time honored regime of which the descendants are truly proud to boast.
One of its patriarchs has gone. In the passing of "Uncle" Robert Germany, a man whose type the present generation would do well to follow.
In the years gone by it was a good fortune of a little child to dwell beneath his roof for a short while, being guided and administered to by the kind and gentle man and his yet gentler wife. Almost a baby, yet so pleasant was the association and loving were deeds bestowed, this child was loath to leave for its own parents care and home. "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto these my little ones, ye have done it unto me." And today this child, grown into maturity looks back across the years with gratitude and sadness and offers this little tribute to a man who "fought a good fight and kept the faith" and today is sleeping silently in the shadow of the home he loved so well, where its his sorrowing wife and saddened family, reminded of him by every dear familiar thing about the old home where his spirit seems to linger.

Woodshop - This community was greatly shocked last Tuesday morning by the sad death of one of its noblest and most beloved citizens, Mr. Robert Germany. "Uncle Bob" as he was better known, was in apparently good health, though very feeble as everyone knew. Despite his age he was an active citizen and devoted church member. Never tiring of such labors that were uplifting and fruitful, always ready to help the cause of suffering humanity. He was a faithful and devoted husband, a kind and loving father, a true and unselfish neighbor. Although we feel his loss deeply and realize that his place cannot be filled, yet, we know the Lord knoweth best. We extend sympathy to the bereaved.
