Mum & Dad lived with Grannie Hughes at 356 London Road, Isleworth, Middlesex. I have never known if I was born at London Road or in West Mid. Dad's Uncles had built the "Properties" as Mum called them, in the early 1900s and Dad's nuclear family moved there from the Midlands when Dad was about 5 yrs old. He didn't like it at first and decided to leave home and walk along the Grand Union Canal which linked Birminham with the Thames but didn't get very far before he was taken home again. John and I rented 354a before buying 50 Northcote when Christine was a small baby.
John Lived as a boy at 39 East Reach, Taunton, Somerset. and went to secondary school at Huish Grammar where Arthur C Clark, the Author of 2001 A Space Odyssey, had been a pupil and when John was Head Boy of the school Arther C Clark visited and John met him. The family lived above the Co-op Butchers where John's dad Bill, or,as the postman once called him, William McConquer or was Manager. John had 2 sisters Grace and Joan and a brother Bill. I think that he was born at no 39 when the family moved to Taunton from Bristol.
