Peter A. MORRISON

"Pioneer Trails and Trials", page 136, has this bio:
"Peter A. Morrison was born at Rockland, Maine on May 28, 1960. Hemved, with his parents, to New York in 1871, then came West by wagonto Laramie City, Wyoming in November 1873 and from there to Idaho inMay 1875 where he stayed two years. On June 17, 1877, Peter arrived inMontana. There he met Harriet E. Elmer who had come West with herparents by wagon about 1878 from Missouri. They had moved to Missourifrom Illinois about twelve years before. Harriet was born June 22,1864 in Illinois.
Peter A. Morrison and Harriet E. Elmer were married at Wakerville,Montana January 2, 1881. The following births were recorded in thefamily Bible: Arreels Murdock, August 30, 1881; Jennie Cathrine,Septembmer 16, 1883; Joseph John, June 3, 1885; Charles Eugene,November 26, 1886; Frank Elkeenen, July 22, 1892. These children wereborn around Whitehall, Boulder, Walkerville and pipestone, where Peterhad an interest in mining and stsrived to earn a degree in miningengineering.
About the turn of the century, Peter A. Morrison was in partnershipwith a Mr. Fuller. Their mining operation was near Alder Gulch. It wasnenar this time that Donald A. (Dan) Morrison, Peter's uncle, wasinstrumental in the promotion of the Lewis and Clark Cavern
Then the family moved over in the Madison Valley, to McAllister, wherePeter A. Morrison was foreman for some mines on Baldy Mountain. HereHoward Elmer Morrison was born on May 18, 1903. Soon after his birth,they moved up on a homestead between McAllister and Baldy, where theylived while Peter was active in mining.
On August 19, 1905, Joseph John (Jack) Morrison and Alma Vincent weremarried, and on September 30 of the same year, Jennie CathrineMorrison and Clarence L. Oliver were married. Joseph Morrison andClarence Oliver were in the frieghting business. They hauled ore fromthe Baldy mines to Norris, the railway station, and supplies andfreight back to McAllister and the miners.
In 1909, Peter sold his mines on Baldy and homestead, and bought theone hundred sixty acre McDougal ranc at McAlister, where they moved soHoward could attend school.
They only stayed there one year before Peter became very ill. Thedoctor told him he could not stay another winter in Montana or anyother cold place. He spent the winter of 1910-1911 at Porterville,Californina. While there he bought land at a place called Globe. Inearly 1912, Peter A. Morrison rented a boxcar and moved the householdgoods along with five head of horses and two cows from Montana toCalifornia. His wife, Harriet, and son, Howard, followe soon after,and they were at their new home in April 1912.
Howard Elmer Morrison, the last surviving child of Peter A. andHarriet E. Morrison, is still living in Porterville, California,thirteen and a half miles from the old famioy home near the nownonexitent train stop at Globe." Submitted by Howard Elmer Morrison.
