"Jean M. Larson
March 20, 1919 - June 27, 2006
Jean Larson, 87, died peacefully June 27, 2006, at Glen Valley CareCenter. She had lived at Glen Valley since May 2002.
Jean was born March 20, 1919, in University Park, Neb., to Cype and Fern (Stilwell) Mincer. She attended Otis schools and graduated from the University of Colorado in May 1940.
She married Erv Larson in May, 1942, in Denver, while he was serving in the Army Air Corps. After the service, she worked several years in his law practice in Ordway, and thereafter in Glenwood Springs.
In the early 1970s, Jean's interest in politics took her to the Colorado State House in Denver, first working in the legislature and then serving as a representative in the Colorado House of Representatives from the 17th District in El Paso County from 1979-84.
She also served as a Valley View Hospital candy striper, and was active in the PEO sisterhood until recently.
She is survived by son Jim (Judy) Larson of Glenwood Springs; grandson Taylor (Kaitlin) Larson and their infant son, Aidan James Larson of Denver; and granddaughter Barbara Larson of Shady Side, Md. A recent highlight for Jean was meeting her great-grandson Aidan shortly before her passing.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband and her older brother Neil Mincer.
One of her passions was to serve her community, and even at the end she strove to do so by donating her body to the Colorado Anatomical Board at the CU Health Sciences Center for study and education.
No public services are planned.
Any remembrance contributions may be made to the Colorado State Anatomical Board, 4200 E. Ninth Ave., Denver CO 80262, or to local Chapter AD or PEO, c/o Karen Call, 646 Odin Drive, Silt, CO 81652.
The family also asks that you cherish a memory.
