"Marion McDowell and Mrs. Martha Rees of Bunker Hill and Ray McDowelland family of Kokomo, spent Christmas Day with John McDowell andfamily."

"Mrs. Martha Smith
Bunker Hill (Tribune Area Special) - Mrs. Martha McDowell Smith, widowof Winton [sic] Smith, a resident here, died shortly after noon Fridayin Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru, where she had been taken following astroke suffered on Monday. She would have been 90 years old had shelived until November.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bunker HillMethodist Church of which she was a member. The body is at the GlazierFuneral Home where friends may call. It will be taken to the church tolie in state for an hour before the service.
The nearest surviving relatives are several nieces and nephews."
The same paper on Monday, August 11, 1952, had this:
"Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Smith, 90, of Bunker Hill, widow ofWinston Smith, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Bunker HillMethodist Church, the Rev. Glen Campton officiating. Burial will be inSpringdale Cemetery, Bunker Hill.
Mrs. Smith died at Dukes Hospital Friday afternoon after a severaldays' illness of a cerebral hemorrhage.
Surviving are several lnieces and nephews. She had spent her entirelifetime in Bunker Hill. She was a member of the Bunker Hill MethodistChurch and the Order of the Eastern Star, Peru."
