The Coe College Cosmos, Cedar Rapids Iowa, 5 Feb 1931, has thisarticle, transcribed from the paper at ancestry.com:
"Tau Kappa Epsilon announces the pledging of Homer McDowell ofSearsboro. Formal pledging will be held Sunday night at 7 o'clock inthe chapter house. 1581 First avenue."

Same paper on 28 Jan 1932:
"Robert Gunn, Lynn Ward, Harrison DuRie and Homer McDowell of TauKappa Epsilon fraternity represented the Coe chapter at the nationalfraternity conference which was held at Lincoln, Neb. last weekend."

Same paper on 10 Oct 1935:
Article listing cast members of the play "The Importance of BeingErnest" to be presented on Nov. 8 and 9, included Homer McDowellplaying "Algernon Monrieff, debonair and irresponsible friend ofJohn's." Another article later regarding the same play listed studentsappearing in the play and Homer was mentioned.

On 12 Dec 1935, article talking about Christmas programs says "BettyKitterman will narrate the story of the first Christmas with RoseClosson depicting Mary and Homer McDowell as Joseph."

Same paper, 7 Jun 1937, lists students graduating, awarded diplomas"this morning", including Homer Alvin McDowell receiving his Bachelorof Arts degree. There were 104 students graduating.

16 Sep 1937 is an article saying: "Homer McDowell '37, of Searsboro,received an
appointment to the Lake ______[entire next line illegible. Apparentflaw in the original.] Westford, Mass., for a five weeks' trainingcourse which started August 15.
Selected as one of a group of 40 young men and women out of more than1,100 candidates, McDowell will receive instruction from Cornelia OtisSkinner, Walter Hampden, Ethel Barrymore Colt, and other well-knowntheater people.
Recommendation from college dramatic department instructors is thebasis for appointment to the colony which operates on a scholarshipbasis and prepares aspirants for the professional theater."
