"Death yesterday [sic] claimed Mrs. Melissa Buell, 50, a resident ofButte the last 33 years. She died at the family home, 2021 Phillipsavenue. She was the widow of Chandler M. Buell, well known shaftsmanwho died last February [sic].
Mrs. Buell was a native of Ware, MO, and came to Montana when a girl.During her long residence in Butte she gained many friends. She wasactive in church and charitable work and was a member of the WomensBenefit association, Silver City revler [sic] No. 3.
The body was removed to Duggans Merrill mortuary where services willbe held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Thomas A?nworth, rector ofSt. John Episcopal church, will officiate. The body will then beremoved to McAllister Community church, with rites conducted by theRev. Reeves of Bozeman. The body will be laid at rest in the familyplot in McAllister beside that of her husband.
Surviving relatives include: A son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.Austin Buell, a daughter, Miss Clela Buell, and a brother, William J.McBroom, all of Butte; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Clara Scanland of Butte,Mrs. Minnie Schabarker of McAllister and Mrs. Annie Hosking andGertrude Cox of Los Angeles; a cousin, Mrs. Grace Stopel of Butte;nephews and nieces in Butte and the Madison valley, and otherrelatives in Missouri."
