Service for Leonard Maxey, 95, will be today at 11:30 a.m. at FirstPresbyterian Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of thearrangements.
Mr. Maxey, who was born in Aberdeen, Wash., died Friday.
After graduating from high school, he attended the University ofWashington his freshman year. In 1933 he received his bachelor ofscience degree in microbiology from Washington State University. Hethen spent three years in Missoula as a medical technologist andmicrobiologist.
In 1937 he joined Hollister-Stier Laboratories and in 1940 wastransferred to Pittsburgh to open a branch of the company. He enteredthe Stanford Executive Development Program in 1956.
Mr. Maxey spent 37 years with Hollister-Stier, retiring as CEO andChairman of the Board.
He served on the board of directors for Camp Fire Girls, Chamber ofCommerce, Inland Empire AAA, Rotary Club, Manito Golf and CountryClub, and was a past member of the Spokane Club and the Hayden LakeCountry Club.
He also was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Jeanne.
Survivors include three daughters, Jeanne Reese of Hayden Lake, Idaho,and Barbara Johnson and Julie Soto, both of Sammamish, Wash.; sixgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church,318 S. Cedar St., Spokane, WA 99204."
