KOLEBER, Donald L. - Age 79, of Shelby Township, MI and Naples, FL, peacefully passed away surrounded by family November 17, 2010 in Naples. Born December 29, 1930 in Ft. Collins, CO he was a retired teacher, coach and school administrator graduating from Flint Beecher High School and Central Michigan University. He proudly served his country overseas during the Korean Conflict and began a distinguished 30 year career in education with Flint Beecher schools also working for the Mt. Morris, Durand and Fraser school districts. He was an MHSAA official for 40 years and continued to officiate high school sports and coach age group swimming until 2009 positively touching the lives of thousands of young athletes by teaching hard work and fair play. He was deeply admired by the children and parents and was affectionately known as Coach K. He was also a hunter and an avid Lake St. Clair boater. He was predeceased by his mother, Leona (Mill) Ott and father, Henry Koleber. He will be deeply missed by his family including his loving wife of 52 years, Lorraine (Pietryga); children, Donald M. Koleber of Ferndale, MI; Thomas H. (Denise) Koleber of Madison, MS; Michael (Tracy) Koleber of Austin, TX; Karen (Joseph) Bolyard of Greensboro, NC; brother, Lt. Col. James P. (Nancy) Ott, USAF (ret.); nine grandchildren, Shelby, Sierra, Kyle, Shaelyn, Kalan, Sabre, Kembree, Vance and Macy; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have already been completed but a memorial service to celebrate his life is being planned for the spring. Thoughts and condolences may be shared at www.donkoleber.wordpress.com.
