"Allison R. Hostetter
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 11 at Webb-SandersFuneral Home in Lindsay for Allison Rea Hostetter, 86, formerly ofLindsay, who died July 12 in Burbank.
A Lindsay native, Ms. Hostetter was the second of four children of A.M. and Faith Millberry Hostetter, both of whom lived most of theirlives in Lindsay.
Her paternal grandparents, George K. and Margaret Hostetter, wereLindsay pioneers, buying an orange ranch in the community in 1891.
Ms. Hostetter graduated from Lindsay High in 1928 and fromo theUniversity of California, Berkeley, in 1932. She also did graduatework at Columbia University, Stanford University and then Fresno StateCollege.
A teacher, counselor and administrator in Lindsay schools for nearly40 years, Ms. Hostetter interrupted her long tenure in Lindsay for oneyear of teaching at Seaside Elementary School near Monterey shortlybefore World War II. She retired from LHS in 1971.
Ms. Hostetter was listed in Who's Who Among American Women for hermany contributions to education and her community. Her accomplishmentsinclude being named Lindsay's "Woman of the Year" in 1965; formergrand marshal of the Lindsay Orange Blossom Festival; president from1963-65 of the California Association of Women's Administrators andCounselors; and honored in 1972 for outstanding contributions by theNational Association of Women's Deans and Counselors.
Survivords include her sister, Barbara Thomas, of Los Angeles; fournephews, four grandnieces and four grand-nephews.
Ms. Hostetter was preceded in death by a sister, and a brother.
