Individual Details

David ADAMS

(29 Mar 1699 - 21 May 1759)

Dates and places for this family are from Mayflower Families Through Five Generations, Volume Six, Family - Stephen Hopkins, by John D.Austin, Published by General Society of Mayflower Descendants 2001, unless otherwise noted.

NOTE: Windham County was created in 1726 from Hartford and New London counties.

Art Brown had David as born in Canterbury but Austin says Chelmsford. That appears to be more likely.

Austin has this:
"Administration of the estate of Jonathan Adams, late of Canterbury, was granted to father David Adams of Norwich CT 8 June 1756. David Adams presented an inventory of Jonathan's estate 13 July 1756.
Distribution of seven 14-acre parcels which Elisha Paine, late of Canterbury, deceased, gave to dau. Dorcas Adams, wife of David and both late of Canterbury, deceased, was made 4 April 1770 to: Levi Adams (second son), Abel Adams (third son), Elisha Adams (fourth son), Leah Cain (second dau., wife of Isiah Cain), Rebekah Adams (third dau.), heirs of Jonathan Adams, deceased, late of Canterbury (eldest son) and heirs of Constance Reynolds, deceased, late wife of Robert Reynolds (eldest dau.)."

"History of Our Branch of The Adams Family" has another child attributed to David and Dorcas - David, born _____, married 30 Sep 1746, to Sarah Jackson. It also did not include Constance, which Austin had.
