James Henthorn was a Methodist steward for over 40years. His letters to Rev. Daniel Hitt, the first written 197 yearsago, provide an amazing window to the past. Because of the volume ofhis correspondence, this third generation Henthorn comes alive to uslike no other person in the Henthorn family tree. Reading the lettersit seems almost as if we are able to listen directly to him as hediscusses his faith in God and his devotion and friendship to DanielHitt. Future generations of the Henthorn family will be indeedfortunate that the letters of James Henthorn and other family memberssurvived. "
