Verbena Faye Gilbreath Landers
(February 16, 1931 - April 12, 2012)
Verbena Gilbreath Landers, 81 years old, of Greenbrier, TN passed away peacefully on Thursday, April, 12 2012 at Golden Living in Springfield, TN. She was born in Seagraves, Texas to Silas & Nora Clementine Meridith Landers on Feb 16, 1931. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Donna Darlene Landers Dyer. She was a woman of tremendous faith who made prayer a part of every minute of her day and night. She was an Assembly of God minister’s wife of over 61 years. She and her husband, Don, who were high school sweethearts served in Hawaii for 28 years and in Israel for 8 years at the ‘Chapel by the Sea’. She was a Sunday School Teacher and also President of Women’s Ministry of Missionary Council. She loved music and was a gifted pianist and singer who also played accordion, the organ, and the bass. She and her husband, Don, had many recordings of their music. She was also an author of books and one of her publications was ‘Mountain Movers’. She was a faithful servant in her years of ministry with her husband of over 61 years and her family very much. A Celebration of her life will be held Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Greenbrier Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home at 2 PM. She is survived by her husband, Don Landers, Greenbrier, TN; sons & daughters-in-law, Daniel & Carla Landers, Greenbrier, TN, Steve & Debbie Landers, Indian Trail, NC; daughters, Linda Suzette (Alan) Manibog, Mililani, Hawaii; brother, Clarence (Wanda) Gilbreath, Sacramento, California; sisters, Mary Clark, Sacramento, California, & Joyce Lovell, Bakersville, California; grandchildren, Malia Skinner, Christina Dyer, Lorraine Dyer, Caleb Manibog, Candice Manibog, Bethany Landers, Ashley Landers, Cana Landers, Kaili Jennings, Katrina Jennings, & Kelcey Jennings. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, 4-8 pm and on Monday, 1-2 pm the time of the service. Her final resting place will be at the Greenbrier Cemetery with her family serving as pallbearers.
