Arthur GARY
(Bef 17 Dec 1599 - 17 Dec 1666)
The Gary Genealogy says that tradition says that "Arthur Gary came to America on the ship Abigail in 1635, which sailed from Plymouth, England, but his name is not included in the passenger list of that vessel. He was, however, an early resident of Roxbury, Mass., where he was admitted a Freeman of the Colony on March 14, 1838/39."
Much information on the Gary line is from "Gary Genealgoy The Descendants of Arthur Gary of Roxbury, Massachusetts", Lawrence Brainerd, Boston, Mass., 1918. There is also an article in The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, January, 1929, Vol. 83, by Henry Edwards Scott, A.B., of Medford, Mass. Copy in file, printed from the NEHGS website.
