LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION TO ALEX WARD, ADMINISTRATOR OF LEVIFARIS, DECEASED.

STATE OF TENNESSEE} JOHNSON COUNTY } COUNTY COURT, JUNE TERM, 1863

TO A. WARD, ESQ.

It appearing to the County Court now in session that Levi Faris hasdied leaving no Will and the widow desisting therefrom and the Courtbeing satisfied as to your claim to the Administration and you havinggiven bond and qualified as directed by law, and the Court havingordered that Letters of Administration be issued to you.

These are therefore to authorize and empower you to take into yourpossession and control all the goods chattels, claims and papers ofsaid intestate and return a true and perfect inventory to our nextCounty Court, to collect and pay all debts, and to do and transact allthe duties in relation to said estate which lawfully devolve on you asAdministrator, and after having settled up said estate to deliver theresidue thereof to those who are by law entitled.

LAST WILL & TESTAMENT OF THE LATE LEVI FARIS, DECEASED

STATE OF TENNESSEE} JOHNSON COUNTY }

I, Levi Faris possessed of my right mind but weak in body do make thismy last Will and Testiment revoking and making void all other Wills byme at any time made.

1st. I desire that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid assoon after my death as possible out of any moneys that I my diepossessed of or may first come into the hands of my Executor.

2nd. I give and bequeath to my sons, Lewis, and George A. Faris myhouse tract of land with fifty acres to be taken off of the Roe Tractadjoining this to be attached to the home tract, which land is to beequally divided between them whenever George A. becomes of age,together with a small entry lying at the lower end of the place.

3rd. I give to my two sons Wm. J. and John L. Faris my land known asthe Thomas Greer farm containing four (4) small tracts of land whichis to be equally divided between them whenever my youngest childGeorge becomes of age with the exception of the fifty acres which isto be stricken off of the east end of the Roe tract to be connected tothe home tract, provided that if Wm. J. Faris who is in the army if heshould die in the Army then his part in the land to be equally dividedbetween Lewis, John and George A. Faris.

4thly I do give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth one red roanmilk cow and spotted work steer, one bay two year old filly, onecupboard, one bed and furniture, five head of sheep.

5thly I do give and bequeath to my wife, June Faris all my personalproperty together with my notes and cash on hand, the propertyconsisting of the following articles viz: One wagon and gearing, twohorses, all the farming tools with all the grain and bacon on handtogether with all the household and kitchen furniture consisting ofone bureau, one clock, bedstead and bed and cooking utensils of whichis to assist her in raising my children and schooling them, and to beequally divided among them as they come of age, and also I give to thesaid June, my wife, four head of milk cows and their yearlings withthirteen head of sheep.

61y. I do give and bequeath to Henry Maxwell one dollar.

71y. And lastly, I do hereby nominate and appoint my wife, June Farismy Executrix, and my son Lewis my Executor.

In Witness Whereof, I do this my Will set my hand and seal, this 30thday of March 1863.
