Burl Evertt Duncan was born on July 22, 1917, to Clarence and BertieDuncan in West Plains, Mo. In the early morning hours of June 29,2005, he entered into eternal peace, leaving the frailties of agebehind. His course was completed with this declaration: "I have foughta good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." Hewas reunited in the heavenly glories with his wife, Marie, and manyfamily and dear friends. We extend to Hospice Visions a heartfeltthank you for helping us fulfill our desire to keep Dad at home untilhe went to heaven. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2,2005, at First Assembly of God in Twin Falls at 189 Locust St. N. Agraveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park.The Rev. Don Shover, the Rev. Wes Johnson and the Rev. James Finn willofficiate. Burl Evertt and Zella Marie were married on April 12, 1936.They lived in several locations in Oklahoma and Illinois beforerelocating to Idaho in 1946 where Dad worked as a mechanic in Rupertand on farms in the Hazelton area. In 1947, he accepted Christ as hispersonal Savior. His conversion completely changed the course of hislife. Dad was ordained as a minister in May of 1952 by the Assembliesof God. He and Marie were truly partners in preaching the word of Godand ministering to human needs. They gave of themselves withoutreservation to five pastorates over a 43-year span in El Dorado andMcCleansboro, Ill., as well as Hansen, Mountain Home and Twin Falls,Idaho. Upon the death of Mom in 1995, Dad retired again from full-timeministry but was always eager to minister when asked. Fishing wasDad's passion. If possible, he would have gone fishing everyday alwayshoping to catch the "big" one. His nephew, Rick Dixon, was alwaysready and willing to go with Dad to Salmon Falls Reservoir and forthat the family is grateful. Dad also loved the annual hunting trekwith family and friends. Burl is survived by his son, Burl Dean andwife, Nancy Marie; grandchildren, Kevin and Raylene andgreat-grandsons, Brandon and Derek; Lorraine Marie and Todd Gluch andgreat-granddaughter, Alexann Marie; Diana and Bob Smith andgreat-grandchildren, Jennifer and husband, Dustin Gorseth, DavidDuncan and Zack and Katlind Smith Jeffrey, deceased; Andrew and wife,Gretchen and great-grandson, Anthony; and Aaron. He is also survivedby his sister, Nelly Berry, and brothers, George and Cal Duncan. Hewas preceded in death by his parents and wife. Friends may call from 4to 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home and at First Assembly of Godat 189 Locust N. in Twin Falls one hour prior to the service onSaturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the M.A.P.S.Mission Fund, c/o The First Assembly of God Church.
