"Herr Joachim Buchholz wurde in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Deutschland, geboren und zwar am 7ten Juine, 1856. Seine Eltern waren Herr und Frau Johann Buchholz. Im Heimetsdorf brachte er auch seine Jugend jahre zu. Nachdem er seine Militaerdienste vollendet hatte trat er mit Frl. AnneCarstens in den Stand der heiligen Ehe. Ein Jahr darauf, im Jahre1883 zog er mit seiner Gattin nach Amerika, und hier siedelte er sichsofort in Merrill an. Als ein treuer Lutheraner trat er auch sofrotmit der hiesigen lutherischen Gemeinde in Verbindung. Schon imnaechsten Jahr versammelte er sich mit andern Lutheranern hieer aufder Westseite in Merrill zwecks Gruendung einer lutherischen Gemeindein unsem Stadtteil. Im Jahre 1885 kam es dann auch zur Organizationeiner Gemeinde, naemlich unserer Dreieinigkeitz-Gemeinde. Herr Buchholz wurde auch schon bei der ersten Beamtenwahl als ein Trusteeder neuen Gemeinde erwaehlt, und zusammen mit Herrn August H. Stangeund Herrn E. J. Zastrow bildete er das Baukomitee der neuen Kirche.In dem halben Jahrhundert seiner Mitgliedschaft unserer Gemeinde wurdeer zu wiederholten Malen zu Gemeindeaemtern erwaehlt. Die Gemeindeerkannte seine Faehilkeit [type-overs on 3 letters?] und so dienteunserer Verstorbene der Gemeinde als Trustee, Vorsteher,Schulvorsteher, und Vorsitzer oder President. Im Jahre 1898 starbseine Gattin, Im Jahre 1900 trat er mit Augusta Vogel in den Stand derhlg Ehe. Unser Entschlaf??? [typeovers] erfreute sich meist der besten Gesundheit und trotz seines hohen Alters war es ihm doch noch bis vorkurzem moeglich zu arbeiten. Am Montag Nachmittag hat er nocheinmal mit seiner Gattin das hlg Abendmahl genossen, und am 18 Julifrueh morgens ist er dann, wie wir zuversichtlich hoffen, sanft undselig im Glauben an seinem Heiland eingeschlafen. Seinen Todbetrauern nebst seiner Gattin drei Kinder: Frau Bertha Rice, San Francisco, Cal., Frau Ida Kroells, Lindsay, Cal, und Karl Buchholz, Merrill. Zwei sinder Kinder sind ihm in den Tod vorausgegangen, John Buchholz und Frau Anna Gustmann. Es sollen auch noch zwei Brueder undzwei Schwestern in Deutschland ihm ueberleben. Sein Alter brachte erauf 79 Jahren. Fraunde und Bekannte stifteten zu seinem Andenken einen Mindekranz fuer Mission von $13.00.

It appears that he and Anna may have arrived in the United States on the ship Fresia 9 Aug 1882 in New York. A passenger list is hard to read, but it is definitely Anna Buchhohlz. His and baby's names are hard to see and read, but ages are correct.
Another possibility is that the father came over first, by himself, and then Anna and the baby came later, or he went back and got them. See:
