John Christopher "Stophel" SPRECHER
(10 Jun 1738 - 11 Jun 1738 - 11 May 1830)
Unless otherwise noted, information on this family and his parents is not verified. Came from Joyce Lindstrom's book on the Vanhuss/Vanhoozer family.
Also, Sept./Oct 2013, at Wytheville Community College, pages were copied from Pioneers of the Virginia Bluegrass (and their descendants) by George B. Gose and Revised by Mary B. Kegley. There is a section of Spracher and citations are noted for sources of some information.
Per Mary Kegley in Pioneers of the Virginia Bluegrass, he acquired land and a mill, "on both sides of the Trading Post Road from Salisbury to Guilford." in Rowan Co., North Carolina. By 1782 they were living on Cripple Creek in Wythe Co., Virginia.
Note that Christopher had an obituary, per Mary Kegley in Pioneers of the Virginia Bluegrass, pg. 325. It said he had 14 children, 92 grandchildren and 134 great-grandchildren when he died at age 92. Ten of the children were named in the will.
