Betty Lou Swanson made her final journey home on May 25, 2010. Born February 5, 1931 at Tishomingo, OK to John Evans & Ethel (Tribble) Hallmark. Betty graduated from Ravia High School Class of 1949 and attended one year of college at Oklahoma A&M before she married Bob Swanson in August of 1950. She moved with her family to Edmond in August of 1969. For several years Betty worked as an executive secretary and administrative assistant before retiring from her last employer, the State of Oklahoma, Department of Environmental Quality, in 1995. Betty loved being "grandma" as much as she loved being a mother. She also enjoyed outings with her friends and helping anyone she knew with their current challenges. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William and Charles; her sisters, Bessie and Euvalene; her grandson, Christopher Morton; and great-grandson, Kyle Duncan. She is survived by her brothers: Finis Hallmark, of Mill Creek, OK and Bob Hallmark, Ada, OK; her son, Steve Swanson and his wife Louise, Littleton, CO; their children, Kelly, Kate and Kerry; her daughter, Linda Morton, Oklahoma City, OK and her son, Todd; her daughter, Nancy Kidd and her husband Eddie, Edmond, OK and their children, Christie Kidd Cochran, Kasey Kidd Tucci and Alex Kidd and great-grandson, James Duncan.Memorial services for Betty will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010, at 11:00 am, at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond, Pastor Joe Rhodes of Highland Park Baptist Church officiating.
