According to Fairbanks genealogy, John was the son of Seth and Mary (Morse) Howe, of Marlborough.
Note that spouses of children were taken from the Fairbanks genealogy. While as of 25 Nov 2011 I am confirming dates and locations, I have not confirmed that it is the correct person. ie, there were at least two Anna How marriages in Marlborough in 1809.
"Howe Genealogies" by Daniel Wait Howe is digitized at ancestry.com. Pages 76-77 also list Susanna Fairbanks, daughter of Jabez and Susanna, as wife of John Howe. This one gives death date for their daughter Mary as 1849 and specifies she was unmarried.
