Barbara Whitmore Bacon, an English and reading teacher at Rocky HillHigh School for 10 years, died Monday at the Connecticut Hospice ofBranford. She was 76 and lived in Milford.
Mrs. Bacon taught at Rocky Hill High School during the 1950s and1960s, and then taught at Waterford High School for another 10 years.She retired in the 1970s.
Born in Fitchburg, Mass., she also lived in Rocky Hill and Florida,and was a Milford resident for the past six years.
She received her bachelor's degree from the former Fitchburg TeachersCollege in Fitchburg, Mass., and received her master's degree from theUniversity of Hartford.
She was the widow of Bradley P. Bacon. She leaves a daughter, CarolResnik of Milford; two sisters, Janice W. Brennan of Holiday, Fla.,and Mary W. Thompson of Fort Bellvoir, Va. Two brothers, Ronald J.Whitmore and Norbert C. Whitmore, died before her.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Rose Hill FuneralHome, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Burial will be at the convenience ofthe family. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before thefuneral.
Memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Hospice of Branford,or to the New York Times Neediest Cases Fund, P.O. Box 5193, GeneralPost Office, New York, N.Y. 10087.
