"County Official in Nye Succumbs
Grant Welch, long term Nye county commissioner, died in TonapahTuesday of terminal pneumonia. He had been seriously ill for sometime.
Mr. Welch, a native of Virginia City, Mont., and 55 years of age, hadbeen a resident of Nye county for 51 years and had been a rancheruntil moving to Tonapah five years ago.
He was elected to the county office in 1940 and had filed forre-election this year. He was to have been opposed by O. H. Smith,Republican, in the November general election.
He owned the Bryan apartments in Tonapah and held the mail contractbetween the post office and depot. He was a member of the Tonapahlodge of Elks.
Survivors are his widow, a son, Hubert Welch, and three daughters,Mrs. Edna Welch, and Misses Rosemary and Alice Welch.
Funeral services to be conducted Friday are in charge of the Elkslodge of Tonapah."
