"George Blackwell Pickett, of Fauquier County, Virginia, and later of Madison County, Alabama, the eldest son of Co. Martin and Ann (Blackwell) Pickett, of "Paradise," born about 1789, in Fauquier County, Virginia; died 1829 in Tennessee. About the year of 1826, he removed with his family from Fauquier County, Virginia to Madison County, Alabama, and later to Hardeman County, Tennessee; he took a prominent and active interest in affairs of Church and State. He married on July 1, 1818, Courtney Heron, born 1797, died 1865, daughter of James Heron, of Richmond, Virginia (1751 - 1806); married Sarah Taylor, September 11, 1790. After his death, in 1837 his widow removed to Lexington, Kentucky. Issue."
