Mary W. Russell

12 i. Charles Webb Innes was born in Fayette Co., KY October 11, 1821. Charles died August 28, 1883 in Lexington, Fayette Co., KY, at 61 years of age. His body was interred in Lexington, Fayette Co., KY, Lexington Cemetery. He married Mary W. Russell in Harrison Co., KY, April 5, 1849. Charles and Mary were married at the Harrison County home of her grandfather, Col. T. Ware. Mary was the daughter of Robert Spotswood Russell and Sally Ware.

Mary died August 23, 1855 in Lexington, Fayette Co., VA. Her body was interred Fayette Co., KY Family Cemetery at homeplace. After finishing his education at Yale College, Charles returned to Lexington and settled into the life of the gentleman farmer and the breeding of short horn cattle. His home, "Corinthia", was begun in 1832, a year before the death of his father, but was not completed until 1854. The house was built by a local architect, John McMurtry. A massive, two-story home, built in the shape of a "T", the house takes its name from the tall Corinthian columns on the front.

Charles was a member of the Christian Church. He was a Mason and a Democrat.

Mary Russell Innes died August 23, 1855, and was buried in the family cemetery at Corinthia. Charles Webb Innes survived his wife by 28 years and died August 28, 1883. After a sermon was preached at his residence on Russell Cave Pike, he was laid to rest in the Lexington Cemetery.
