She attended a select school at Chillicothe, and in 1872 she entered Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa where she was engaged in scientific studies for two years. After she left college, she traveled with her mother a good deal and after 1885, resided at Kingston where she had a pleasant home. She was wealthy and an extensive land owner.
She did not marry.
