(7 Oct 1904 - 21 Dec 1942)
KEYS: w
"Mother Flees Flaming Home, Returns to Die with Baby, Kin Helpless to Stop Sacrifice. Before the eyes of her parents, who could not stop her, Mrs. Alvira Wildner gave her life in a burning house yesterday in a vain attempt to save her infant son. The child's father, Gust Wildner Sr; employed in a defense plant, had left the cottage at 5:30 A.M. after having started a fire in the stove. The Mother's parents, Mr and Mrs James Bell, whose home is in Wisconsin, were guests. It was Bell, 70 who discovered that the overheated stove had ignited the furnishings of the living room. He wakened Mrs Wildner and Mrs Bell, and ran out with Dennis Wildner 3, in his arms. Mrs Wildner was close behind. How-ever, she learned that the baby Gust Jr. 6 months old, had been left behind. As she started toward the house her father seized her, but she broke away and entered through a window. She reached the bed where the baby was laying but was overcome. An Inquest will be today at Grays-lake. (See Ref:R0025) (Lake Villa is/near Round Lake Beach).
